As Swami Vivekananda once said, "My faith is in the younger generation, the modern generation; out of them will come my workers. They will work out the whole problem, like lions."
Our honorable Finance Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman presented her seventh consecutive budget on July 23, 2024. The Union Budget laid out a visionary path for our nation which focuses on the four pillars of priority which are ‘Garib’ (Poor), ‘Mahilayen’ (Women), ‘Yuva’ (Youth), and ‘Annadata’ (Farmer) as stated in the interim budget.

The main theme of the Union Budget 2024 was employment, skilling, MSMEs, and the middle class. This year, the prime focus was to provide a roadmap for Viksit Bharat @2047. To achieve that aim, the government laid out the following 9 priorities for generating ample opportunities for everyone:
Productivity and Resilience in Agriculture
Employment & Skilling
Inclusive Human Resource Development and Social Justice
Manufacturing & Services
Urban Development
Energy Security
Infrastructure
Innovation, Research & Development
Next Generation Reforms

India Budget-2024 Priorities
In this article, our primary focus will be the yuva (youth). The youth are the future of tomorrow. The youth of India plays a pivotal role in contributing to the country's population and growth. The youth of the nation are the asset of the country; their passion and enthusiasm drives the development of the country. India's youth shape the trajectory for the nation's growth, economic development, and social changes. As Nelson Mandela once said, "The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow."
Our government is making every effort to create opportunities for the next generation. As announced in The Union Budget, the Government will provide;
Internship opportunities to 1 crore youth in the top 500 companies in the coming five years.
Loans up to ₹7.5 lakh with a guarantee from a government-promoted Fund are expected to help 25,000 students every year.
Allocation of more than ₹3 lakh crore for schemes benefiting women and girls.
1,000 Industrial Training Institutes will be upgraded in hub and spoke arrangements with outcome orientation. Course content & design aligned as per skill needs of the industry.
Allowance of ₹5,000 per month along with a one-time assistance of ₹6,000 through the CSR funds.
Why is the Government of India focusing on youth? Here's the reason.
India is the most populated country, standing at the first position in the world. According to the 2022 revision of the World Population Prospects, the population stood at 141.72 crores (2022).
“India's demographic dividend in terms of youth population is a key factor that is expected to propel economic growth.”

Youth & Elderly Population Statistics
India has more than 50% of its population below the age of 25 and more than 65% below the age of 35. In 2020, the average age of an Indian is estimated to be 29 years, compared to 37 for China and 48 for Japan. The share of the working population is much more than the non-working population in India. Youth is considered to be one of the most productive sections. The youth are the critical thinkers, innovators, change-makers, and most importantly, the future leaders of our nation. Therefore, the role of Yuva will play an important role in achieving the aim of Viksit Bharat by 2047. The Indian government is making every effort to direct the energy and ideas of young people towards nation-building in order to support development. Therefore, the involvement of Yuva will be significant.
